Panopto Cloud/System is Currently Down - Resolved

At 10:01 a.m. CST, Panopto reports this outage is now resolved. "The Panopto NA Cloud is now available for all users. The source of the outage has been mitigated. Our cloud operations team is monitoring performance metrics to ensure the issue remains resolved."

At 9:12 a.m. CST on Wednesday 11/20/024, the UNI eLearning Admins received alerts from monitoring systems. We have verified the UNI Panopto System (uni.hosted.panopto.com) is not available directly or through Blackboard Learn. Panopto's status page acknowledges a 'full site outage'.

Blackboard Learn Outage on Tuesday, December 7, 2021

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from approximately 10:14 a.m. CST to 4:31 p.m. CST, the Blackboard (Bb) Learn System was not accessible due to issues at Amazon's AWS us-east-1 data center where our Bb Learn instance is hosted.

During this 6 hours and 17 minute period, ALL UNI users were unable to access the UNI Bb Learn System nor the UNI Panopto System; which uses Bb Learn for accounts and authentication.

When users tried to reach the Bb Learn System, they received either a blank page (Firefox & Safari browsers) or the following message (Chrome & Edge browsers):

uni.blackboard.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 503

Amazon AWS reported "increased API error rates for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region" and "the root cause of this issue is an impairment of several network devices.".
