Blackboard Learn Integrations

Blackboard Learn 3rd party integrations, also referred to as publisher or vendor integrations, grants faculty and students in a Blackboard Learn course authenticated access to external resources outside of Blackboard Learn.  These resources can be a variety of materials, from text materials, assessments, or additional functionality not available in Blackboard Learn.

Request a 3rd Party Integration

If an instructor would like to utilize a 3rd party publisher integration within their Blackboard Learn course, here is the process:

  1. Faculty must complete the ‘Contact eLearning Suite Support’ form and include the publisher/rep contact information and how the integration will be used within the course.
  2. IT-ETMS Instructional Application Admins will contact the UNI Bookstore to determine if the publisher integration has already been established and available.  If available, the UNI Bookstore will provide guidance how to connect the course with the publisher.
  3. If this integration has not been previously established, the Blackboard Application Admins will contact the publisher and require them to complete a HECVAT statement. (Under HECVAT tools, click 'FULL' to download the correct version required by UNI).  In addition, a completed VPAT form for Student Accessibility is required.  Please download the WCAG version of the VPAT at the bottom of the ITI page.
  4. The completed HECVAT statement and the VPAT form must be approved by the IT- Security Office. Once approved, ETMS staff will work with the vendor to install a test instance of the integration on our Blackboard Learn test system.
  5. The vendor and the faculty member(s) requesting the integration will then need to test the system to be sure it works as needed.
  6. Once the testing is completed, the integration will be installed on our Blackboard Learn production environment. 
  7. The vendor and the faculty member(s) requesting the integration will then need to test the system to be sure it works as needed.

This process may take up to several months before the integration is available for use within the Blackboard Learn environment, so PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY!
