A few reminders for the start of the semester...

Instructors: You must make your UNI eLearning course available to students in order for them to have access to it. Information and directions are located at: https://www.uni.edu/elearning/how-do-i-make-my-bb-learn-9-courses-available-students
Students: Use of the UNI eLearning system is based on the instructor's discretion. Although all UNI classes have an eLearning course by default, the instructor can decide whether or not to utilize it. Students must be enrolled in the class and the instructor must have made the course available in order to gain access. If you do not see a course listed, please contact the instructor of the class to see if they are using the UNI eLearning System and if they have made their eLearning course available to students.

Panopto will release its new version, Panopto 5.5 on Saturday, August 12, 2017. New features include Playlists and User Names in Discussions. Panopto 5.4 and Panopto Recorders will be supported in the new version. The new version will be available for download from the Software Center after Saturday, August 12, 2017. On Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) CDT, the UNI eLearning System will be UNAVAILABLE for an extended period while we install a newer version of the Blackboard Learn 9.1 software and building blocks. On Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. CDT, the UNI eLearning System will be UNAVAILABLE for maintenance to install application OS and database OS patches. These are patches for the servers that the UNI eLearning System runs on. There are no changes to the UNI eLearning (Blackboard Learn) software in this maintenance period.

On Friday, July 21, 2017 at 7 pm CDT, the Panopto Recorder for both Windows and Mac will need be upgraded to version 5.4. This upgrade includes important bug fixes for Windows, Remote Recorder, and Mac clients. To upgrade your Panopto client on a UNI computer, go to Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (Mac) and install the Panopto Recorder. If you have issues or questions, please call 319-273-5555 or submit your question or service request at https://servicehub.uni.edu (click on Create New Incident) and it will be directed to the appropriate IT personnel.

On Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. CDT, the UNI eLearning System will be UNAVAILABLE for maintenance to upgrade application software.

On Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. CDT, the UNI eLearning System will be UNAVAILABLE for maintenance to install application server patches. These are patches for the servers that the UNI eLearning System runs on. There are no changes to the UNI eLearning (Blackboard Learn) software.

Faculty, Staff, & Instructors: IT-ETMS will host Fall Faculty Focus workshops, August 7-18, 2017. Workshops, all now 1 hour in length, address Bb Learn 9 features and other learning technologies. There are also workshops addressing the technologies being installed in updated basic 110 classrooms. Seating is limited. The UNI Panopto System (http://panopto.uni.edu) will be offline and unavailable on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 7:00 PM CDT through 11:00 PM CDT while being upgrade to Panopto 5.4. Users will be unable to create, edit, or view Panopto videos and all Panopto content within UNI eLearning courses will be unavailable during this outage.
